Motorcycle Paint Codes

Posted by Bare | Last Updated January 20, 2011

I used to have charts here showing paint codes for the 2002 VTX models. These charts were originally taken from Riley’s site and reposted here. I have since discovered that some of the information in those charts was incomplete – some colors, mainly the illusion colors, require different base coats and top coats. So rather than continue to put out-of-date information out there, I went directly to Color-Rite’s website and found that they now have a “Paint Wizard” to ensure you get exactly what you need.

You can order paint from Color-Rite in touch-up pens, touch-up jars, aerosol cans and even pints & quarts for bigger jobs.

Remember that proper preparation is the most important part in painting. Using a can of spray paint can get you good-looking results, but remember that a clear-coat finish is the key. If the finish doesn’t come out perfectly, try some light wet-sanding and buffing. This can produce results just like a factory finish when done properly.

I have found if you go to http://www.uspaint.com you will find all the honda colors. They are the supplier to Honda for paint, I have a VTX 1800R and my paint code was on a white sticker on the frame behind the left side cover.
